Every model has its unique set of specifications, such as the Samsung Q80/Q80T QLED and the Samsung Q80/Q80R QLED, which are highly comparable in many ways. In HDR, the Q80R can get significantly brighter, has superior local dimming, and has a higher contrast ratio. The Q80T, on the other hand, boasts excellent color fidelity, a faster response time, and a lower input lag, all of which are beneficial to gamers. Both TVs support VRR to decrease screen tearing during gaming and have a 120Hz refresh rate.
Samsung Q80t
The Samsung Q80t review includes several features, as the Samsung Q80T QLED TV is an ideal starting place if you’re looking for one of Samsung’s cheapest full array backlight QLED TVs, break strand with a price tag of $1,349 / £1,279 / about AU$1,809, you’d hope so. After the Samsung Q80t review, it had dazzling peaky HDR, exquisite sharpness, and a wide color gamut in models like the QE65Q80T (65-inch) size – 49-inch, 55-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch versions. Make no mistake: the Samsung Q80T QLED TV is as beautiful as you’d expect, with some unexpected additions thrown in for good measure.
It’s worth mentioning that the Q80T will be succeeded by the Q80A in 2022, with the 55-inch model costing $1,299 (approximately £939 / AU$1,749).
Samsung Q80r
When it comes to the Samsung Q80r review, it offers more features than other models. With a direct full-array backlight, superior antireflection and contrast technologies, and a smart TV platform with some innovative capabilities, it’s undoubtedly enviably well equipped. The only drawbacks are the price, which is always high, and a particular elephant in the room known as Dolby Vision.
Price
The Q80R is presently available in the UK in 55- and 65-inch sizes dubbed the QE55Q80R and QE65Q80R, respectively, with prices ranging from $1,999 to $2,499, depending on the screen size. If you’ve already read our review of Samsung’s great Q90 QLED TV but can’t afford the QLED’s exorbitant price tag, the 65-inch Q85 (QE65Q85R) might be a better fit for you – the Q85 costs far less ($2,999 vs. $3,800 for the 65-inch Q90) while offering nearly all of the same features and performance.

The bezel is quite narrow and the TV’s borders are appealing in Q80R and the -style metal borders are employed while with its small bezels, the Samsung Q80T isn’t distracting.
Design
The screen’s frame is incredibly slim, and the combination of an open stand neck and a forward-facing silver bar support gives it a pleasingly airy, floating appearance of Q80t. The absence of outlets and wire spaghetti, as well as the sleek, slightly striped surface, make the back panel more appealing than others. Of all, once the first setup is complete, you’re unlikely to look at it again. The Q80T, with its FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) backlight, will undoubtedly not be the thinnest flat screen on the market, but for most purchasers, the extra bulk will be worth it. Samsung’s designers have done an excellent job of masking the extra depth by enclosing the panel with a skinny bezel, giving the impression that the images are floating in mid-air.
With four HDMIs that offer sophisticated and variable specs, connectivity is also excellent. HDMI 4 supports 4K at 120fps, and HDMI 3 supports years. The set supports 4K at 60Hz (as shown in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X games), 2K at 120Hz, VRR (variable refresh rate), and ALLM (adaptive light management) (Auto Low Latency Mode). FreeSync compatibility is also available.

The native contrast ratio of the Samsung Q80 is excellent. However, it is less expensive than other TVs using VA screens. This is due to the ‘Ultra Viewing Angle’ layer on the television, which boosts viewing angles at the expense of contrast ratio. This looks a lot like the Samsung Q80R and Q80t. This TV’s inherent contrast ratio is slightly higher than that of other TVs we’ve evaluated with similar viewing angle enhancing technology.
The TV’s local dimming, like that of the Q80R and Q80t, cannot be entirely disabled in the standard settings menu. We had to disable PC Mode Dimming in the TV’s service menu and then activate PC Mode and Game Mode at the same time to assess the native contrast ratio.
The natural contrast ratio of the Samsung Q80T is excellent, however, it is lower than average for a VA panel. This is most likely due to Samsung’s ‘Ultra Viewing Angle’ layer, which improves viewing angles while lowering the contrast ratio. When local dimming is set, the contrast improves, but blacks can still seem yellowish in some scenarios. The 49-inch model is likely to offer a greater native contrast ratio because it lacks the ‘Ultra Viewing Angle’ overlay.
Local Dimming
The Q80’s local dimming feature is outstanding. In comparison to the Q70R, it performs better. When bright highlights move across the screen there is a smooth transition from one dimming zone to the next. The side view reveals some blossoming.
The scene can appear darker or lighter while subtitles are presented. Samsung TVs with local dimming features are prone to this.
As far we know, there is no way to turn off local dimming in the TV’s normal menus. This experiment used ‘High’ Local Dimming.

Viewing Angle
Yes, you still get Samsung’s game-changing viewing angle technology, which finally allows LCD to compete with OLED in this important TV performance area. Samsung’s new AI 4K processor with much-improved upscaling HD and standard definition sources is still included. Backlight management
Samsung’s new dedicated backlight management chip is also present and correct. The set follows the Q90R series in having a direct LED lighting system (where the LEDs are located directly behind the screen) with local dimming. The 65-inch Q90R TV, on the other hand, has 480 zones of local dimming, while the 65Q85R only has 96. Although this is still a significant amount, the 65Q85R has approximately 400 fewer light control zones helps explain why the 65Q85R is so much less expensive than the 65Q90R.
The cost and the availability of Samsung Q85R are available in 75, 65, and 55-inch screen sizes and were released in March 2019. However, keep in mind that these are only available in the United Kingdom and Europe. If you buy them abroad, you’ll have to import them, and you’ll have to expect that any import fees will put you close to the price of the Q950R flagship, at which time you should go with that instead.
